This course provides an overview of European Union ship recycling regulations. Completing this course accord you the expertise on preparation of IHM including the "visual sampling and check plan",the theory behind taking samples onboard and the preparation of required documentation.

None: Previous shipping or HazMat knowledge would be useful.

Dr Jai Acharya 

PhD (Maritime Engineering); MSc (Maritime Studies); B.E. (Hons) EEE; FIE; CEng.

Dr Jai Acharya, a multi-faceted Maritime Professional has covered almost full spectrum of the vibrant maritime industry during the past 44 years of his active involvement. Currently, he is the Principal Consultant with International Maritime Management & Consultancy Services (IMMC), Singapore. As a Consultant, Jai has drafted maritime training course curriculum and syllabus under the guidelines of IMO Model courses and conducted training for many institutions and provided consultancy services on IMO Conventions compliance to various international clients. He has published research papers / articles in maritime journals and newsletters. His work in the area of research in maritime emissions assessment and management shows his commitment towards the ocean environmental protection and green shipping. Jai has also taken charge as an independent third-party consultant in IMO audits for flag states and conducted IMO pre-audit assessments for a few flag states. He has been co-opted as an industry expert member for Australian Maritime Logistics Research Network (AMLRN)hosted by RMIT University, Melbourne and advisory board member of International Maritime Research Confluence (IMRC), Mumbai (India). A book (ISBN Number: 9781138607491) published by Routledge and Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) having research write-up on “Maritime Logistics” in the Perspective of the BRI Initiative is authored by him. Jai has been appointed as a Director for International Ocean Institute (IOI - HQ @Malta) - Singapore (Focal Point), since 2012 and consistently contributing for the cause of Ocean welfare, Ocean Governance Framework under the United Nations Convention on the Law of Sea (UNCLOS), Blue Economy, Fulfilment of issues raised on global climate change during the international conference of United Nations on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) held on 20-22 June 2012 at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Jai has a wide experience of business development in international ship management, maritime consultancy services and mentorship for innovative projects on environmental shipping, maritime emission management, ports energy efficiency management and waste water management.
